4 Stars So far it’s working great for me
The outdoor starter kit is the one I bought. I also had problems getting it to work. If I had known it was my firewall, it would have been a 15 minute install, not hours. As soon as I shut my firewall down, the connection was made, and I started receiving video. I’ve since read of others who also had firewall issues, so I know it wasn’t just me. All the other features, remote computer viewing, and e-mail alerts, work just fine for me. I’ve only had the system(2 cameras), for 3 weeks, so I can only hope I don’t have the power supply problems, or camera failure, that others reportedly have.

My suggestion to those of you that can’t get it to work, is shut down your firewall or just use the Windows firewall, as I am doing now. It could save you some time and grief. If the cameras don’t fail, I think it is a real good, economical, and easy to use system. No users manual included, only a fold out, map like instructions.

2 Stars Intentially Crippled Software- $80 per YEAR? I don’t think so
Easy to install and configure. However, my wife really wanted something that would notify her when someone pulled in the driveway. E-mail? No problem, but nobody checks their email continuously. How about a simple popup on the home office computer it’s installed on?

NO. That’s an upgrade- not just $80, but $80 PER YEAR. I don’t need any of the other Platinum features, just this basic feature that should be in the basic application. Charge me for e-mail, but don’t charge me to play a stupid .WAV file on the host PC. Logitech is cutting their own throat and hamstringing a perfectly good product. Stupid companies with product management run by idiotic MBAs that never talk to their customers.

1 Star Not professional grade hardware – not even residential grade
This stuff is just plain junk. Many companies offer professional grade video surveilance gear at reasonable prices here on amazon. They have NEMA 5+ enclosures, use cabled installs, and run forever without maintenance.

Then there is this junk that logitech is reselling from wilife. It should be renamed whatajoke. Mostly indoor with a few outdoor rated deviced that quickly suffer a miserable death, my experience with the system was so positively negative that I went with the pro gear which in the end cost less than repurchasing this scrapmetal as it died off.

Save yourself the fustration and avoide wilife / logitech from the start – look at established names like pelco / sony / etc. for security.

1 Star Works great for 4months, 7months and 2months
I love it so much initially, and I was proudly recommended it to everyone i know because of ease of use… over last couple months, I realized these USB receiver burnt out easily.. the camera is good.. but RMA these USB receiver is a nightmare. And they don’t sell them either… The only good thing is… there are many more retail stores that sell these camera now.. I supposed you can go buy and swapped the defective part. Overall now I wish I bought something else.

4 Stars Superb Product With Caveats
I bought this outdoor starter kit with the add-on outdoor camera a few weeks back and now have them installed and am very happy – for the time-being at least…

The Pros:

Excellent color image. Very easy set-up – both hardware and software. Tech support is a live person, 24/7, with very little wait time. E-mail alerts when motion is detected with attached snapshot or video mean that if one’s residence is broken into and one’s computer (and thus, the recording) is stolen, photo or video evidence will exist on a remote server.

Image traveling through AC power means not having to deal with wi-fi reach issues or interference from other local networks.

The Cons:

USB adapter/receiver has to be plugged directly into the wall – not through a surge protector – and from there, should go directly into the computer and not through a USB hub. (I am going through a hub because I have no choice – the computer I’m using is in the middle of the room and can’t be easily re-wired.)

The USB adapter ‘went bad’ a few days ago and I was able to re-program it with USBFix software provided by the company. I’m waiting to see how long it continues to work; I was told by Lukwerks tech support that as I need to go through the hub, the issue would likely recur. If it does happen again (and again), I’ll return everything (which I’m loath to do as the cameras are securely mounted on the exterior facade.)

If not – I expect to be heartily recommending Lukwerks (with those caveats)…

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star JUNK
All you need to do is read the title. It looks to be good but as soon as i turn it on it knocks out my wireless router, cell phone cut off, IMAC started to restart. No joke i have never seen anything like it. Trying to send this thing back

3 Stars Close but no cigar
I just received my Dancing Daisy. This is close to being a great product. First the good… The video picture is awesome. It’s very clear, both in daytime and night. You can even hook the monitor up to your tv which is a function that my husband and I really enjoyed. The problem is the audio. The amnount of static makes this feature completely unusable. I tried turning off our wireless router but it didn’t help at all. I’m really torn about returning this back to the vendor… I am really happy with the video quality and the price but the audio stinks.

3 Stars The sound IS poor, but visual is good
I read over and over that this product is a great video monitor but static ruins the sound. And everyone was right. This cannot really be used for an audio monitor but it’s going to provide me what I need as far as a visual monitor to keep an eye on my older child on the porch should I need to tend to my newborn in the house. Again, don’t depend on this for your sole audio….get another monitor for that.

5 Stars Perfect for our needs
We decided to buy a video baby monitor as our little guy is a difficult sleeper. In “training” him to sleep we found we were constantly going in while we were supposed to be “letting him cry” because we would think of many reasons why he was crying- has he lost his soother? is his arm stuck in the rails? etc. We have had this monitor for almost 6 months now and it has been great. we were amazed when we first hooked it up with how well you could see when the room itself was pitch dark. in the daylight you can see color and in the dark it is black and white which is fine as we just were wanting to see what he was doing/if he was ok. the sound is a bit staticky but i wouldn’t use it anyway as we can hear our son just fine when he cries. all of our phones are 2.4GHz and the only time they interfere with the monitor is when you are actually on them. i have noticed when the microwave is on the monitor gets a bit distorted. my husband acutally broke our monitor a couple weeks ago and it has been too hard to be without it that we just bought a new one! It is perfect for my mohter-in-law too as she used to always go into his room to “check on him” and wake him up and now can just look at the monitor if she is worried.

5 Stars Why it’s your best option.
After six months of using the 4ucam … it’s clear to me that it was the best thing to buy. I’m not saying that it’s the best quality product but it does more than everything that you want and at a reasonable price. Yes the sound quality is poor but sound is not that important. Here’s what I mean.

First, forget about sound only monitors … they’re useless after your baby starts waking up without crying. But more importantly, you want to see her wake up and get to her before she start to cry. Why would you want your baby to cry every time she finishes a nap. .. or leave her alone in the dark until she starts to cry. 4ucam has great night vision.. excellent.

The screen is relatively big compared to other monitors but it’s still too small to easily see her stir and about to wake. We connect the monitor to our TV using the adapter. We love watching her sleep while we read or surf on our laptops. We can easily see her start to wake up on our large TV screen … and we’re there to greet her the moment she rises. Priceless.

Rechargeable battery is a must because we have the monitor on every time she naps and most of every evening.

And yes, the touch sensitive light switch is cr#p but not a big deal. Takes a few extra seconds to get the light on or off. The same stem used to switch on the light holds the camera and is flexible and comes with a good clamp… this turned out to be surprisingly useful whether she sleeps in the crib or on our bed. You can direct the camera to her face really easily and makes watching the baby sleep that much nicer.

And finally the camera is decorative (duh!) and looks better than anything else on the market.
